Michael Mucci writes another 'edge of your seat, can’t possibly put the book down' murder mystery in A Season to Die. Just when they thought things were settling down, Chris DeAngelo and his deputies are called back into action. In two short months since taking office, Sheriff Chris DeAngelo has endured a maelstrom of murder and mayhem. Macon, PA was supposed to be a quiet town; instead the neighbors are ruthless, feeling justified in taking the law into their own hands. After the murder of a prominent politician’s wife, the serene community turns into a war zone, and it is DeAngelo’s job to discover who the enemy is? One death after another, are they somehow related? Pressured by the mayor and the locals, DeAngelo investigates. Connecting the dots, following the evidence, building a case, Sheriff Chris DeAngelo does his duty against a relentless foe.
Michael Mucci’s adventuresome spirit and world explorations certainly have contributed to his gift of storytelling. A Season to Die is full of thrills and spills, murder and mystery! Growing up a small town in PA, Mucci has a clear understanding of the people and surroundings of Pennsylvania. Using his first hand knowledge, he gradually lures the reader into the narrative’s community setting. A Season to Die follows the steps taken in a criminal investigation. The story elements are well balanced; however, the characterization takes center stage. The novel is written in first person, therefore the reader is aware of the main character’s thoughts and internal dialogue. Often his actions and his thoughts are not always the same; one must keep up appearances. However, seeing the inside and the outside of the protagonist gives insight into his evolving character.
Mucci keeps the canvas of the setting fresh by including the weather descriptions, and the dangerous, cold and snowy road conditions add suspense. In addition, the inclusions of dates and lapses of time pace the action. A Season to Die is full of twists and turns as it reaches its climactic “whodunit” conclusion. Mucci wraps up the loose ends well, but the last words reveal that there is more to come for Sheriff Chris DeAngelo of Macon, PA. “When duty calls, you respond.”"

What does Sheriff Clay Holbrook, unaccounted for bank deposits, eleven unsolved deaths in Macon, Pennsylvania, the Deerbusters, and the installment of the new Sheriff Chris DeAngelo all have in common? They are the main elements of a great crime, mystery, and thriller novel, A Season to Kill by Michael Mucci. During Sheriff Holbrook’s leadership, the town of Macon had eleven unsolved deaths that were ruled as merely disappearances. Suddenly, Sheriff Holbrook passed away and he is replaced by Chris DeAngelo. DeAngelo had been the deputy under the leadership of Sheriff Holbrook for over 20 years. Now with the latest death of Roger Sharpe, it is Sheriff DeAngelo’s job to uncover the murder. As DeAngelo begins moving forward in solving the crime, several other elements begin to unfold, including that of the unsolved deaths of over eleven years ago.
I loved reading A Season to Kill by Michael Mucci because it is well-written, easy to read, and had a lot of essential mysterious components that kept me in suspense through and through. A Season to Kill puts me in the mind of the movies Along Came A Spider and Kiss the Girls in James Patterson’s Alex Cross Series. I once again visualized Morgan Freeman going through the challenges of trying to not only solve the death of Sharpe but that of Rose, Reisling, and Santapaula that are amongst the eleven unsolved murders. At the end of each day, I relaxed by reading this great mystery before turning in for the night. I just couldn’t put it down. Before this becomes a best-seller and turns into a movie, you want to get a chance to read A Season to Kill by Michael Mucci for yourself."

“Michael Mucci's police procedural novel, A Season to Die: A Chris DeAngelo Novel, gives the reader a look into what it's like to be a small town sheriff. Chris DeAngelo's not all that sure about his role as Macon’s chief law enforcement officer, and watching as he navigates his world is fascinating and compelling. His continued consciousness of his outsider status and deliberate efforts not to abuse his position as sheriff make him one of the more intriguing police characters I've run across. Mucci's plot is complex and will be challenging to the vast majority of those mystery fans who pride themselves on finding the solution before it's revealed. I loved the first book in this series, A Season to Kill, and found this well-written and suspenseful book to be a worthy successor to that marvelous debut novel. A Season to Die: A Chris DeAngelo Novel is most highly recommended.” (5 out of 5 stars, Readers Favorite)
